An unpleasant effect is a negative, unfavorable side effect that comes from taking medicine or having surgery, among other interventions. When a bad impact is considered to be subsequent to a major or therapeutic effect, it might be referred to as a “side effect”. Adverse effect and complication are synonymous terms, albeit the latter is more frequently used in pharmaceutical situations or when the adverse effect is anticipated or frequent.
