Health maintenance is the combination of promotion and prevention and health restoration is to help prevent complications and to ensure optimal recovery.
The promotion of health is recognized as one of the most important components of public health and community health practice. Mental Health promotion includes all efforts that seek to move people closer to optimal well-being or a higher level of wellness. Nursing in particular has a social mandate to engage in health promotion,
Health promotion:
Health promotion is “any planned combination of educational, political, environmental, regulatory, or organizational mechanisms that support actions and conditions of living conducive to the health of individuals, groups, and communities”
Or,
Healt- promotion is the process of enabling people to increase control over and to improve their health. It moves beyond a focus on individual behavior towards a wide range of social and environmental interventions.
