Concept of Vasectomy – This course is designed to understand the care of pregnant women and newborn: antenatal, intra-natal and postnatal; breast feeding, family planning, newborn care and ethical issues, The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge and develop competencies regarding midwifery, complicated labour and newborn care including family planning.
Concept of Vasectomy
Definition of Vasectomy:
Vasectomy is a surgical procedure for male sterilization or permanent contraception. During the procedure, the male vas deferens are severed and then tied or sealed in a manner so as to prevent sperm from entering into the ejaculate and thereby prevent fertilization.

It is a permanent sterilization operation done in the male where a segment of vas deferens of both sides is resected & the cut ends are ligated.

Male sterilization or vasectomy being a comparatively simple operation can be performed even in primary health centers by trained doctors under local anesthesia.

3. Protection for the male it provides only indirect protection from pregnancy for women.

Indications:
1. Permanent ill health of the potential mother
