The term “disease control” describes (ongoing) operations aimed at reducing:
- The incidence of disease.
- The duration of disease, and consequently the risk of transmission.
- The effects of infection including both the physical and psychosocial complications and
- The financial burden to the community.
A disease may be controlled by primary prevention or secondary prevention or both.
Example: Malaria controls.

Answer:
The term disease elimination describes to interruption of transmission of disease.
Elimination of disease
For example: Elimination of measles polio, and diphtheria from large geographical regions or areas. It is used when, it is not possible to eradicate a disease e.g. elimination of neonatal tetanus.

Disease eradication
Eradication means to tear out by roots. Disease eradication-implies termination of all transmission of infection by extermination of the infectious agent.

Example: Small pox is the only disease that has been eradicated from the word.
