Introduction:
The Nursing Process is a problem solving approach used by nurses to meet the needs of the patient. It is a deliberative method that relies on the use of cognitive, interpersonal and psychomotor skills.
The nursing process is the systematic and rational method of planning and providing nursing care. Its goal is to identify a client’s health status, actual or potential health care problems, to establish plans to meet the individual needs and to deliver specific nursing interventions to meet those needs.

The nursing process is a cyclical process, that is the component of the nursing process follows a logical sequence, but more than one component may be involved at any given time. The nursing process provides a framework for accountability in nursing (Fig 3.1)

DEFINITION

The Nursing process can be defined as an orderly, systematic way of identifying the clients(patients) problems, making plans to solve them, initiating the plans or assigning others to implement it and evaluating the extent to which the plan was effective in resolving the problems identified.”
